Hoard Hunt
The Dragon Hatchling's 3★ pick-a-chest game: every 100 Emerald or Ruby landings, choose one of three chests holding ×1, ×2 or ×3 balls, gold balls or gems.
Overview
Hoard Hunt is the Dragon Hatchling's 3★ ability — a pick-one-of-three chest game that fires automatically while the dragon is equipped. Every time a ball lands in an Emerald or Ruby bin the dragon's counter ticks up (the pill on its pet slot shows X / N); when it reaches N the board pauses, "HOARD HUNT!" slams in and three chests appear. One holds the base loot, one double, one triple — you pick, and the rest are revealed.
Diamond landings don't count (they launch a Jackpot Frenzy instead), and only the dragon in your current loadout counts — a dragon sitting in your inventory does nothing.
How often it fires
Every Nth Emerald/Ruby triggers a Hoard Hunt — pick 1 of 3 loot chests. The cadence is 100 landings through Lv 100, then drops by 4 every 10 levels down to 60 at Lv 200 (the dragon is a mythic and can be levelled past 100).
| Dragon level | Hunt every |
|---|---|
| Lv 1 – 99 | every 100 |
| Lv 50 | every 100 |
| Lv 100 | every 100 |
| Lv 110 | every 96 |
| Lv 120 | every 92 |
| Lv 130 | every 88 |
| Lv 140 | every 84 |
| Lv 150 | every 80 |
| Lv 160 | every 76 |
| Lv 170 | every 72 |
| Lv 180 | every 68 |
| Lv 190 | every 64 |
| Lv 200 | every 60 |
The chests
When the hunt triggers the game first rolls what the chests hold, then deals the ×1 / ×2 / ×3 multipliers to the three chests at random. Every chest holds the same loot type — only the multiplier differs — so an average pick is worth ×2.
| Loot | Chance | Chest ×1 | Chest ×2 | Chest ×3 | Average pick |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50% (1 in 2) | 50 balls | ||||
| 30% (1 in 3.33) | 1,000 gold balls | ||||
| 20% (1 in 5) | 100 gems |
- Gold-ball chests are paid through your gold-ball gain bonuses (Marquee Gold Ball Drop), so they can come out above the listed amounts.
- Hoard Mimic's 1★ Hoarder's Cut (+0.00% → +10% at Lv 100) applies to every chest in the game — Hoard Hunt chests, Chest Rush chests and the Meadow Mole's buried treasure — rounded up so it always shows.
- Only one hunt can be open at a time; the counter keeps ticking while you play, but a new hunt won't trigger until you've opened the current chest.
Expected value
Over many hunts the average chest is worth 25 balls + 300 gold balls + 20 gems per hunt (loot share × base × the ×2 average pick). At Lv 200 that arrives every 60 Emerald/Ruby landings instead of every 100 — 67% more hunts from the same play.
Tips
- Fuse your dragon to 3★ first — below that the counter pill doesn't even appear. See Pet Fusion.
- Hunts count Emerald and Ruby landings, so they come fastest on boards and with pets that push balls into the deep bins.
- Chest multipliers are dealt at random with no tells — there is no pattern to read, just pick and enjoy.
